The Junko Partners are a foot stompin honky tonk, bluesy, New Orleans piano duo, that makes you want to drink beer, eat peanuts, and throw the shells on the floor. No show tunes, Billy Joel, or Elton John from these guys, just a mix of New Orleans, Blues, and rock & roll standards. They take their name from New Orleans standard "Junko Partner ".

The Junko Partners are Marc Scortino (Piano, Vocals) and Bill Malchow (also Piano, Vocals).

In the summer of 2003, Bill and Marc had a fortuitous meeting on the porch of Block Island's infamous Captain Nicks. As with most "musical" folks, their conversation about living the pure, creative life led to a debate about Footloose, and in turn, led to the inevitable "impromptu jam." It was then that Bill and Marc quickly realized that although they may never reach an agreement about Footloose, their mutual enjoyment of singing bluesy, fun loving tunes and pounding the piano would certainly provide them with a showcase for their talents, a forum for good times, and the occasional free beer.

When Marc returned from Block Island to Brooklyn, the duo got together at Bill's Avenue A Studio for further jams. When they looked out the window and saw the masses in nearby Tompkins Square Park getting down to the rockin', honky tonk stylings and the dual piano assault (okay, "assault" may not be the best word, but it sounds cool), they knew they were ready to bring their sound to the people. When Bill (still Piano, Vocals) and Marc (also still Piano, Vocals) stepped out to greet their audience, they emerged as The Junko Partners.

So now you know (the story of the Junko Partners).
